iPhone a corporate phone?
While I don’t consider myself in any way, shape or form to be a smartphone expert or veteran, I have owned a few smartphones over the past couple of years. One item I consider a given for any corporate phone is the ability for MS Exchange wireless sync. The iPhone 2.0 software now comes with some support for this feature, but it is limited. It only works if the Outlook Web feature is enabled and if the authentication is basically a username and a password. The problem? Client certificate authentication is not supported. This is a major roadblock in purchasing an iPhone to use as a corporate phone. In our research, I and the information security officer at my company have discovered the only recourse we have is to comment on Apple’s site. If enough people say somethings, perhaps….perhaps we might see a change.
